WHO WE ARE

About a year ago we began learning about the nearly 1 billion people worldwide that don't have access to the most basic element of life -- water. We started researching and learning about how over 42,000 deaths weekly are caused by contaminated drinking water in developing countries -- and 90% of those are children.
We couldn't stand hearing about it anymore without doing something to help. We are both 28, we have been married for 3 years, but we were tired of living our lives for ourselves. As we looked ahead, we realized we wanted the next 30 years of our lives to be more than just chasing after the next best job and buying more "stuff". So, we decided to push reset, take a risk, and hopefully change the way we live our lives and at the same time help give others the chance to live.
While we both love being outdoors and spend a lot of our weekend at Red River Gorge in Kentucky, neither one of us have ever ventured into a trip quite like thru-hiking the Appalachian Trail. We know it will be challenging at times and we hope that the communities we are raising money for will be the inspiration we need to keep going.
Early last year we watched this PSA from charity: water that showed people lining up in central park to draw water for their families. Little did we know then the impact that this video would have on the rest of our lives. Discovering that even $20 a month can help give life to someone else has changed how we think about the value of a dollar -- and we hope it changes yours to.

imagine if New York City's taps went dry. What would we do? Jennifer Connelly walks to Central Park to get dirty water for her family as millions of mothers in Africa do every day. This PSA from charity: water was directed by Hotel Rwanda's Terry George, cinematography by Ellen Kuras. Music by Rumor Mill. Edited by Michael Rothman @ Mudbutter.
Through our hike and WalkToWater.com, we hope to raise awareness and support for charity: water in order to provide clean water to 2 communities in need.
Follow our journey and share it with others to help spread the word! Also, read about why we're hiking and what it has to do with clean water. Join with us as we take millions of steps to help others!
